Edward E. Moore, 80, of Oskaloosa died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at the MHP Emergency Department.
He was born Jan. 12, 1933, at Wright, the son of Elmer and Minnie Wymore Moore. He graduated from Searsboro High School, with the class of 1952. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he moved to a farm northeast of New Sharon where he farmed for eight years. On April 4, 1971, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Miller at Kirksville, Mo. Ed worked at various factories throughout his life including: Clow Valve, Oskaloosa Engineering and Vermeer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eagles. He played basketball for Searsboro High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and daily coffee and rides in the country with Charlotte.
His family includes his wife of over 42 years, Charlotte Moore, of Oskaloosa; a son, Shawn Moore, of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Cynthia (and Alan) Stewart, of Oskaloosa; a step son and his wife, Ronald (and Silvanna) Miller, of Fairfield, a step daughter, Mary Robbins, of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Gary (and Liz) Moore, of Montezuma; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Moore, and a sister, Donna Werner.
As was Ed’s wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. A family gathering will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
