---- — OSKALOOSA — Bill Norton, 61, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday afternoon, March 28, 2014, at his home in Oskaloosa.
William W. Norton, son of Woodrow and Lucile (Kessler) Norton, was born May 28, 1952, in Centerville. He was a 1970 graduate of Bloomfield High School. Bill was inducted into the U.S. Army Oct. 12, 1972, and served in Germany for the majority of his obligation. He married Ruth Jean “Jeanie” Cary, Nov. 12, 1977, in Bloomfield. They settled in Oskaloosa in 1988 and Bill worked at Vermeer Manufacturing. Bill’s family was always of foremost importance in his life. He will be remembered as a wonderful and loving brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Jeanie of 36 years; his children: Nathan Norton and Shawna (Tony) Behal; grandchildren: Carter and Tucker Behal; brothers: Don (Linda) Norton, Henry (Deb) Norton, and Charlie (Mary Jo) Norton; and sisters: Carol Greene and Betty (Jim) Reyes.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kenney Greene.
As was Bill’s wish, his body has been cremated. Military Honors will be presented at the American Legion Hall in Oskaloosa at noon, Saturday, April 5, followed by a celebration of his life in the Legion Hall.
