Skeet attended Oskaloosa High school and began working at an early age building pole buildings. He would later work for Dooley Manufacturing. Skeet was in a serious auto accident in the late ‘70s which made working difficult — although he pressed on and worked at Dooley’s for several more years. Skeet enjoyed the companionship of his four brothers; they enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs together.
His family includes his brothers: Rick Lathrop, of Oskaloosa, David Lathrop, of New Sharon, Anthony (Julie) Lathrop, of Oskaloosa, and Roger (Sue) Lathrop, of Oskaloosa; a son, Adam Woods; three nephews: Doug Lathrop, of Eugene, Ore., Ben Lathrop, of Oskaloosa, and Andy Lathrop, of Eugene, Ore.; and a niece, Angela Rhode, of Muscatine.
In addition to his parents, Skeet was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law: Kristi Lathrop and Shirley Lathrop; and a niece, Niki Lathrop.
