FAY BOYD OCT. 23, 1942 -- FEB. 1, 2014

TRACY — Fay Boyd, 71, of Tracy, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella.

She was born Friday, Oct. 23, 1942, in Tracy, the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude Marshall McCombs. She graduated from Twin Cedars High School with the class of 1961. She then attended D.M.A.C.C. for two years to become a C.M.A. On Sept. 1, 1960, Fay was united in marriage to Dean Boyd at the Baptist Church in Oskaloosa. Fay spent her life working as a caregiver in the medical profession; first as a C.M.A. for Dr. Kurt Van Der Ploegh and later as a dedicated EMT for Clay Township Fire and Rescue. She was passionate about her work as an EMT. In 2005, Fay opened B&B Creations in Tracy, turning her passion for quilting into a business venture. She continued to run the quilt shop with her husband, Dean, until the time of her death. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Canada with Dean. It was not an official vacation until they saw mountains, she truly enjoyed visiting the national parks. She also enjoyed reading. She was a very active member of the Tracy United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and had been in charge of the church’s Harvest Supper every fall for the past few years. She was also a member of Clay Township Fire and Rescue. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, each one of them held a special place in her heart.

Her family includes her husband of over 53 years Dean Boyd, of Tracy; a daughter and her husband, Patty (and Bruce) Brammer, of Tracy; two sons and their wives, Dennis and Marci Boyd, of Tracy, and Trevor and Lisa Boyd, of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Michael Boyd, Stephanie Boyd, Joshua Brammer, Matthew (and Whitney) Brammer, MacKenzie Boyd and Cheyenne Boyd; four great-grandchildren, Kadyn Boyd, Evie Bachman, Hannah Brammer, and Cheyna Brammer; two brothers, Guy (and Georgia) McCombs, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dave (and Jane) McCombs, of Bussey; and two sisters, Kathy (and Wayne) Heberer, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Helen Marshall of California; and many nieces nephews and friends.
