Alice Lamoyne Braden, age 62, of Eddyville, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, in her home of cancer, surrounded by her loved ones.
Alice was born on Feb. 11, 1951, in Mahaska County, to Ralph and Evelyn (Dunwoody) Lobberecht. She married Rodger E. Braden on July 5, 1969, at the Eddyville Christian Church.
She worked for Paslode for several years and then became manager of Blimpies in Oskaloosa before becoming disabled.
Alice is survived by her husband Rodger; four children: Matt (Jackie) Braden, Julie (Eric) Francis, Jody (Brian) Eveland, all of Eddyville, and Judy (Kent) Black, of Batavia; nine grandchildren: Lane, Blair, Kade, Adlynn, Cale, Allee, Wylie, Zoey and Chelsee. Alice is also survived by five brothers: Herb (Eloise), Dwane (Trena), Ralph (Angie), Jim (Julie) and Ted Lobberecht, all of Eddyville; her sister and brother-in-laws: Janet (Stan) Fisher, of Michigan, Wayne (Janet) Braden, of Beacon, and Dale (Cindy) Braden, of Oskaloosa; her mother-in-law, Ruth Braden, of Michigan and formerly of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Evelyn Lobberecht; father-in-law, Willard Braden, and sister-in-law, Marsha Lobberecht.
Visitation for Alice will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel of Eddyville. Alice’s family will be present Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at the First Christian Church of Eddyville with Pastors Dennis Durst and Lois Williams officiating. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville.
A memorial has been established to the Eddyville Christian Church or Hospice of Mahaska County.
