EDNA LOU BESCO NOV. 14, 1926 -- DEC. 16, 2013

---- — EDDYVILLE — Edna Lou Besco, age 87, of Eddyville, died Monday,

Dec. 16, 2013, at the Ottumwa Regional Health

Center in Ottumwa.

Edna was born on Nov. 14, 1926, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Charles E. and Leta (Worrall) Holsclaw. Edna grew up around Eddyville and graduated from the Eddyville High School, Class of 1944.

On March 28, 1948 at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, Edna and F. Richard Besco were united in marriage. Edna and Richard shared almost 53 years of marriage before Richard’s passing and were blessed with two sons: Ronald and Steven.

Edna was a homemaker and worked several years at Alsop’s, Brady’s Shoe Store, Central Book Store all of Oskaloosa and SEDA Meal Site in Eddyville. Edna was a past member and Past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Fireman’s Auxiliary and a active member of the P.E.O. Edna was also a member of the First Christian Church where she served on the Diaconate.

Edna is survived by her two sons, Ronald (Shirley) Besco, of Eddyville, and Steven (Vicki) Besco, of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren, Curtis (Jenny) Besco, Erin (Paul) Johnson, Shawna (Andy) Padgett, Michael Besco and Mark (Lindsey) Besco; and six great-grandchildren, Graham, Brooke, Ellis, Isabella, Corbyn and Brynlee. She was preceded in death by her parents,

Charles and Leta Holsclaw; husband F. Richard Besco; one sister Thelma Holsclaw Treloar; and one great granddaughter Brooke Elyse Johnson.

Visitation for Edna will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Edna’s family will be present Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the First Christian Church of Eddyville with the Rev. Dennis Durst officiating. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville.

A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church of Eddyville.

The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Edna’s family with services.
