ROSE HILL — Marilyn Kathryn Rozenboom, 71, of Rose Hill, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, while being cared for at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born Wednesday, March 25, 1942, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Lester and Viola Dykstra Vander Linden. She graduated from the Pella Christian High School with the class of 1960. On Oct. 5, 1961, Marilyn was united in marriage to Ronald Rozenboom in Pella. Early on Marilyn worked at the Vernon Company. Following the birth of her daughter Laura, Marilyn stayed home to care for her children. She later worked as an Avon representative for over 20 years and at Hy-Vee for over 25 years decorating cakes. She retired from Hy-Vee in the early 2000’s. She was a very active member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church and a 4-H leader for many years. She was very active in several groups including the Gingham Girls Neighborhood Club and the Nelson Pioneer Farm. Marilyn loved quilting, scrapbooking and antiques. She also enjoyed traveling, especially when the trips included a visit to their dearly loved children and grandchildren.
Marilyn’s family includes her husband of over 52 years: Ronald Rozenboom, of Rose Hill; three daughters: Laura (and Brian) Ten Pass, of Waupun, Wis., Diane (and Harwin) Te Slaa, of Hull, and Jana (and Richard) Van Rooyen, of Stratford, Ontario, Canada; 10 grandchildren: Tyler (and fiancée Jessica Vos) Ten Pass, Hollie Ten Pass, Terissa Te Slaa, Allison Te Slaa, Jamison Te Slaa, Jonathan Te Slaa, Kathryn Van Rooyen, Joseph Van Rooyen, Daniel Van Rooyen and David Van Rooyen; a brother: Edwin (and Jeanne) Vander Linden, of Beaver Creek, Ohio; a sister: Marcella (and Carl) Vander Molen, of Bradenton, Fla.; four brothers-in-law: Gerald (and Geneva) Rozenboom, of Peoria, Marvin (and Jean) Rozenboom, of New Sharon, Ed ( and Mary) Rozenboom, of Oskaloosa, and Irvin (and Kathy) Rozenboom, of Altoona; a sister-in-law: Arlene (and Bill) Wilder, of Olathe, Kan.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
