Robert Evans, Sr., 66, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home in Oskaloosa.
He was born Aug. 29, 1946, at Latimer, the son of John and Helen Allen Evans. On June 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Sally Spratt at Unionville, Mo. Bob was a carpenter by trade, and was very talented in all aspect of construction work. In 1973, he was injured, this led to his early retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing carpentry work. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. He was very excited for the arrival of his first great grandbaby later this year. He also enjoyed attending baseball games.
His family includes his wife of over 45 years, Sally Evans of Oskaloosa; two sons, Robert (and Cecelia) Evans, Jr. and Scott Evans all of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Abby, Tyler and Jenna; his mother, Helen McKelvey of Arkansas; two brothers, Jerry (and Linda) Evans of Missouri and Bud (and Kay) Evans of Missouri; and a sister, Colleen (and Tom) Sharer of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his father, and an infant daughter, Jody Evans.
As was Bob’s wish his body has been cremated. A private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Robert Evans Memorial Fund. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
