Sheets earns top award in chili cook-off

OSKALOOSA — The chili simmered and the judges judged Friday evening at the Oskaloosa Educational Foundation’s chili cook-off was held in the small gym at Oskaloosa High School.

The event is an OEF fund-raiser.

William Penn University took third place in the chili cook-off, while Community 1st Credit Union earned second place. Jennifer Sheets earned first place in the chili cook-off.

Sheets said she used several meats in her chili including ground steak, sausage, and beef.

“There’s in an abundance of meat,” noted Sheets, while discussing her chili recipe.

This isn’t the first year Sheets has competed in the chili cook-off.

“I got second last year, so this year it kind of feels good to move up one,” said Sheets.
