OSKALOOSA — Live Healthy Iowa’s Next Step Challenge kicked off this past Monday and will run through Oct. 18.

Dawn Collins, a member of the Mahaska Wellness Coaltion, said it’s not too late to start participating in this challenge.

Collins said the challenge asks people to get together with a team of friends or family members to track the number of steps they take each day via a pedometer.

People can log their progress on www.livehealthyiowa.org. Teams can be as few as two people, with up to 10 on each team.

Encouragement from team members is key to this challenge, noted Collins. She said its good for people to feel accountable to their fellow challenge team mates, as well.

The Next Step challenge is designed to be simple an achievable for people, said Collins.
