Three injured in Wednesday accident

OSKALOOSA —

Three individuals were injured in a crash at 6:56 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of highways 23 and 92, according to a minimal crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.

According to the ISP minimal crash report, Robert E. Allender, 87, of Oskaloosa, was driving a 2009 Chrysler Sebring westbound in the left lane on Highway 92 approaching the intersection with Highway 23. Nicholas R. Greene, 19, of Tracy, was driving a 1992 KW semi eastbound in the right lane of Highway 92, according to the report.

The report notes that Allender attempted to make a left hand turn onto Highway 23. Nicholas R. Greene attempted to brake to avoid Allender, but Nicholas R. Greene struck the front passenger side of Allender's vehicle.

Allender was listed in the minimal crash report as injured. It notes he was wearing a seatbelt and that he was transported University of Iowa Hospitals via Mercy helicopter.

Nicholas R. Greene was also listed in the minimal crash report as injured. The report states he was wearing a seatbelt and that he was transported to Pella Regional Hospital via private vehicle.

Zachary L. Greene, 21, of Tracy, was listed in the minimal crash report as injured. According to the report, Zachary L. Greene was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Pella Regional Hospital via private vehicle.

This accident remains under investigation. ISP was assisted by the Oskaloosa Police Department, Oskaloosa Fire Department, the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
