City, water board hold joint meeting

OSKALOOSA — On Monday, a joint meeting between the Oskaloosa City Council and the Water Board of Trustees was held at city hall.

Although there were no action items on the agenda, plenty of discussion was held concerning the PFM Shared Services Analysis.

Several of the recommendations resulting from the study were discussed.

Among the topics of conversation at Monday’s meeting were Web site usage, the budgeting process, the possibility of reports coming from the water board, as well as customer payment options.

The idea of joint purchasing possibilities between the city and water board also garnered some discussion. Joint asset management was also a subject of discussion between the two boards.

Software used by the city and the water board was discussed, as well.

There was also some talk of opportunities for equipment sharing.

At the end of the meeting, the next joint meeting of the two entities was discussed, with February 2014 in mind.

So, what led to Monday’s joint meeting?

After a discussion among the Oskaloosa City Council at an October regular meeting, it was eventually voted on and approved to send a letter to the Water Board of Trustees. This letter would suggest quarterly meetings between the Oskaloosa City Council and the Water Board of Trustees.
