The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors accepted some equipment quotes and took some bids for Secondary Roads Department equipment at its meeting Monday.
The supervisors accepted quotes on side and rear, and batwing mowers. They also took sealed bids for a tandem axle semi and a mowing tractor.
The supervisors accepted a quote for $29,553 for a side and rear rotary mower, and they accepted a $21,482.25 quote for a batwing mower. County Engineer Jerry Nusbaum said he hopes to get $5,000 from the current batwing mower county officials will put up for auction.
The supervisors received two sealed bids for a tandem axle semi. They will study the bids and take action on the matter at the next supervisors’ meeting on Oct. 21. They also received sealed bids for a mowing tractor. Nusbaum said he will study the bid proposals and make a recommendation for action at the next supervisors’ meeting.
In other action, the supervisors approved the creation of a Capital Improvement Fund and transfer procedure.
Supervisor Mike VanderMolen said the fund would be an accounting tool.
Board Chairman Greg Gordy said it would be a formal way to allocate and track funds for projects such as the Mahaska County Conservation Board’s Environmental Learning Center.
The supervisors also approved a website development proposal. They also approved an amended agreement with AREA 15 Regional Planning Commission and approved signing a Hazard Mitigation Plan application.
