North Mahaska linksters earn split

NEW SHARON – It was a beautiful day for golf Thursday as North Mahaska and Belle Plaine squared off in boys and girls action.

North Mahaska’s A.J. Hibler took advantage of the conditions and shot a 37, two-over par, to earn medalist honors.

However, Belle Plaine was just a bit better and won 173-182.

The Plainsmen had four golfers under 45 to win the match. They were led by Ryan Zumback with a 40.

The meet went much better for the North Mahaska girls.

Mack Fuller and Bailey Upton combined for the top to spots. Fuller carded a five-over par 42 while Upton was runner-up with a 49. Sydney McCulley and Amy Griffin finished with 55s. Also playing was Megan McGriff, who finished with a 59, but did not figure into the scoring.

Belle Plaine 173, North Mahaska 182

Medalist — AJ Hibler, North Mahaska, 37, Runner-up — Ryan Zumbach, Belle Plaine, 40.

North Mahaska — Hibler 37, Connor Hehli 44, Chase Koehler 49, Taylor Legvold 52.

Girls

North Mahaska 201, Belle Plaine 242

Medalist — Mack Fuller, North Mahaska, 42. Runner-up — Bailey Upton, North Mahaska, 49.

North Mahaska — Fuller 42,Upton 49, Sydney McCulley 55, Amy Griffin 55, Megan McGriff 59.
