---- — OSKALOOSA — The Oskaloosa City Council approved a rezoning request for three properties on Third Avenue East to change them from a downtown commercial district to residential during its meeting Tuesday night.
Pam Chapman, who lives at 111 Third Ave. E., spoke to the City Council during Public Comments about the rezoning request. Chapman and her husband want to sell their home and they have a buyer; however, the loan process stopped because the home was zoned Downtown Commercial District instead of Multiple Family Residential District. She also requested that the $250 rezoning permit fee be refunded.
The City Council rezoned three properties on the street — 111 Third Ave. E., 115 Third Ave. E. and 309 S. First St. — to avoid spot zoning.
The City Council approved the rezoning request and waived the second and third readings of the ordinance. However, there was no adjustment of the rezoning permit fee.
In other action, the City Council set Feb. 3 as the date for a public hearing for the rezoning of 1115 S. 11th St. from Multiple Family Residential District to Limited Industrial District.
The City Council also heard budget presentations from the Oskaloosa Water Department, the Stephens Memorial Animal Shelter and the Oskaloosa Chamber and Development Group. See upcoming issues of the Oskaloosa Herald for stories about the organizations’ budget plans.
