Lunch and Learn speaker focused on health care reform

OSKALOOSA — He had a few things to say about health care reform.

Brian Gillette, one of the owners of Group Benefits Limited, spoke about health care reform at a Lunch and Learn event held in the Oskaloosa Public Library Wednesday.

“We are what’s called a general agency,” explained Gillette after giving his presentation, which lasted just over an hour. “So, ultimately what we do is sell health insurance through our agents to individuals and businesses. And, as part of that, we’re spending all of our time trying to get people up to speed and prepared for health care reform.”

Gillette agreed that business owners and those who work in human resources can benefit from his seminars on health care reform. What he has to say about health care reform is also important for individuals, Gillette said.

“It really is because individuals are required by law to have health insurance beginning in 2014,” said Gillette. “So, if you’re not offered it through your employer, you’re going to have a decision to make this fall and the choices will be confusing. You will likely need help to make a smart decision and that’s kind of what we’re out trying to help people get prepared for.”

On Wednesday, Gillette said he will have spoken with more than 2,000 business owners in the past 40 days trying to educate people on health care reform.
