This game involves chickens.
Big Red the chicken nibbled on some food before it was time to pick a winner Tuesday afternoon at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds.
At 4 p.m., Big Red was placed on the Chicken Bingo board as spectators waited for the bird to pick a winner.
Southern Iowa Fair Board Member Holly Padgett said that at 4 and 6 p.m. each day during the fair, people get the opportunity to put their dollar on one of the numbers on the Chicken Bingo board. From there, one of two chickens will help choose a winner using natural means.
“Hopefully it lands on a number that somebody has chosen,” said Padgett. “If it doesn’t, then it rolls over to the next game.”
Padgett said the one who put their money on the lucky number on the board will win half of the pot.
“So, if we have 30 entrees, you get $15,” explained Padgett.
