Bloomfield woman killed in Saturday afternoon accident

OSKALOOSA — A Bloomfield woman died in a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of A Avenue West and Gateway Drive.

At 12:17 p.m., a collision between a car and a pickup truck was reported at the intersection.

Ariel Thomas, 20, of Bloomfield, was the passenger in a westbound 1993 Ford Mustang that collided with a westbound 2006 GMC Sierra driven by Marion Vink, 72, of Pella, according to an initial accident report from the Iowa State Patrol.

Thomas died as a result of the accident, and the driver of the Mustang, Zachary Clark, 21, of Oskaloosa, was injured. Both Thomas and Clark were transported by Mahaska Ambulance to Mahaska Health Partnership, according to the accident report.

The accident remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol received assistance from the Oskaloosa Police Department, the Oskaloosa Fire Department and Mahaska Ambulance, according to the accident report.
