OSKALOOSA —

Local Girl Scouts held a fund-raiser Saturday to help pay for their upcoming activites.

The Girl Scouts of Junior Troop 252 held the sixth-annual fund-raiser at the Kinsman's Keep, 302 N. A St.

“This is our first time in Oskaloosa. Usually, we're in Fremont,” Co-leader Crystal Mullins said.

Many vendors were set up at the Kinsman's Keep and sold a variety of items such as toys, Tupperware and Avon products. Also, there was food for sale — from walking tacos and potato to home-baked goods, Mullins said.

“We're hoping to raise enough money to support the girls for the year,” Mullins said.

There are 19 fifth-grade girls in the troop. They were involved with the set up for the event and they manned their own table on the sale floor.

Katelyn Moore and Alexis McCulley, both of Oskaloosa, manned the Girl Scout table. They had a variety of cookies and other desserts on display.

McCulley said the girls will be selling cookies soon.

“It's fun,” she said of working at the fund-raiser.

Moore said the money raised Saturday will help them go to camp.

Mullins said the fund-raiser Saturday was the big event for the troop this year. The Girl Scouts also do two community service projects during the year.
