On Sept. 24, the Christian Opportunity Center held its annual picnic and had the opportunity to thank and recognize those employees and people supported who work so hard for COC.
Over 250 people attended the picnic and enjoyed a delicious meal together. Executive Director Rod Braun opened the evening with prayer and then each regional vocational manager recognized a total of 16 people supported in their respective programs who were celebrating five year increments of working at COC, the longest being 35 years.
Angela De Cook, HR Director, then asked employees who were celebrating 5 year increments, as well, to come forward and receive their award.
Recognition and thanks was also given to two retiring board members, Bruce Nikkel and Don De Waard, for their six years of service on the COC Board of Directors. It was another wonderful opportunity to be together as one COC family for a night with people attending from our four county service area.
Started in 1969, Christian Opportunity Center serves nearly 300 people with disabilities in Marion, Mahaska, Warren and Polk counties.
