The TD&T building on High Avenue East was struck by lightning early Wednesday morning when a storm passed through the area.
“We had bricks from the top come off the building and scatter across the street,” TD&T Firm Administrator Jill Brumbaugh said.
Lightning struck the southeast corner of the TD&T building roof about 1:30 or 2 a.m. Wednesday, she said.
Brumbaugh said there was no fire and no injuries to TD&T staff or people living on the upper floor.
“It’s cosmetic damage,” she said. “Everything is fixable.”
“We’ve had a little bit of technical difficulties” as a result of the lightning strike, Brumbaugh said.
Several telephones were knocked out as a result of the lightning strike.
“We’re still busy testing our technology and equipment,” Brumbaugh said. “It put a damper on getting tax returns out.
“It’d be nice if it’d happen next week on Wednesday,” she quipped.
Brumbaugh said a lightning strike at TD&T had never happened before, to her knowledge.
