Eagles raise money for Serenity House

The Oskaloosa Herald

OSKALOOSA — A group of 14 people biked or drove their way around Oskaloosa Saturday afternoon to raise money for the MHP Hospice Serenity House.

The Eagles Lodge held its first ever Eagles Charity Helping Oskaloosa Spin Charity Bicycle Fun Run that took them from the Eagles Lodge to the Cellar Peanut Pub, the VFW Post, the American Legion Post and back to the Eagles Lodge.

The majority of those who participate rode bicycles while one person drove a car and a couple rode motorcycles, said Phil Laud of the Eagles Lodge.

“It’s successful,” he said of the event. “Any help is appreciated.”

The Eagles raised more than $500, Laud said.

Laud said a group of Eagles were sitting at a table one day and decided to do a Poker Run, but do it with bicycles, to benefit the Hospice Serenity House. Laud said Mike Mott helped him organize the event.

Laud said people picked up a card at each stop they made Saturday. At the end of the event, people can compare the hand they drew. There were prizes for first place, second place, third place and worst hand.
