Positive community response provided enough donations to pay for the funeral expenses of both of Helen Edgington’s daughters, Kim and Kathie. Another gesture is being made by Mahaska Outreach Thrift Store, providing one more way for local residents to contribute to Helen Edgington’s loss of home and family.
This week, Feb. 11-16, “Bag Week” is being held at the Thrift Store at 114 N. First St. in Oskaloosa. Store shoppers are provided with a brown paper grocery bag, that may be filled with store merchandise for $7. On Friday, Feb. 15, the proceeds from that “Bag Day” will help to settle Helen in her new residence at the Inglenook Apartment complex.
“Shoppers are encouraged to take this method of providing for themselves as well as Helen,” according to Thrift Store manager Alice Moore.
The Thrift Store is open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays.
