Education, taxes and jobs were discussed at Eggs & Issues Saturday.
Saturday’s Egg’s & Issues panel included Republican State Rep. Guy Vander Linden, Republican State Rep. Larry Sheets and Republican State Sen. Ken Rozenboom.
In his opening remarks, Vander Linden noted the “mix of personalities” in the Iowa legislature this year. He also discussed taxes as being a major issue. Vander Linden also discussed the issue of education, citing Gov. Terry Branstad’s education bill.
Sheets also discussed taxes in his opening remarks, noting that he believes Iowa’s corporate income tax is high. Sheets also focused on talking of economic growth through providing jobs that would keep people in Iowa.
Sheets talked of Medicaid at Saturday’s Egg’s & Issues meeting, as well.
Rozenboom talked about developing relationships in the Iowa legislature during his opening remarks. He said this cuts across party lines and is an ongoing process. Rozenboom discussed education funding and property taxes, as well.
During the question and answer portion of Eggs & Issues, a state gas tax and environmental funding each garnered some discussion. A discussion of jobs in Iowa also continued during this portion of the meeting.
