Helping Hands Quilt Group to donate pillowcases

The Oskaloosa Herald

OSKALOOSA — Shown is only a portion of the more than 200 pillowcases that will be donated to Conker Cancer for Kids project.

All the pillowcases will be delivered to a quilt shop in Des Moines after the fair and those pillowcases will be distributed to Iowa-based hospitals and facilities that treat kids with cancer — Blank Children’s Hospital, University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald Houses and others.

Helping Hands is a quilt group that does only charity projects. The members also will donate quilts to various charities as needed. All proceeds from their country store at the Quilt Show during the fair will be used for supplies to make more quilts.

Members include: Janita Abbas, Sharon Armbruster, Linda Binns, Cindy Broadway, Kathy Dunning, Louise Heaton, Sue Ornduff, Leona VandeVoort, Nancy Van Zee, Wilma VerSteegh, Jeanine Waal, Karen Wadle, Bonnie Barnhart, Phyllis Hammes and Linda Rozendaal.
