OSKALOOSA —

If you want to donate to the Salvation Army but the weather is hampering your ability to get to a store to put money in a red kettle, you can contribute online.

The Salvation Army is taking donations via the Internet at www.onlineredkettle.org.

“This is new for us in our area,” Mahaska County Salvation Army Board member Angela Sheely said.

You can donate money through the online red kettle until Jan. 31, 2014. A receipt will be sent to you via email, Sheely wrote in a press release.

“So, it extends our campaign a little,” Sheely said. “All funds will stay in Mahaska County.”

Once you go onto the Salvation Army website, all you need to do is click on “Find A Kettle” and enter “Mahaska County Salvation Army,” she said.

If you don't have access to a computer, you can mail a donation to the Salvation Army. The mailing address for the Mahaska County Salvation Army is P.O. Box 487, Oskaloosa, IA 52577, said Jerry Morrison of the Mahaska County Salvation Army.
