Stadium capital campaign receives $50,000 donation

The Lacey Complex Stadium capital campaign received the final installment of a $50,000 pledge from a local bank Thursday.

MidWestOne Bank and MidWestOne Insurance Services made a $50,000 pledge to help fund the Lacey Complex Stadium.

“We're recognizing the end of our pledge to the capital campaign,” said MidWestOne Vice President of Retail Market Manager Sandy Bailey. “We gave a final payment of our pledge.”

“This is the third year of the campaign,” said William Penn University Athletic Director Greg Hafner.

Hafner said the campaign has received many pledges from individuals as well as businesses throughout the community. Some businesses have made three-year pledges while others have made five-year pledges, he added.

To date, the capital campaign has raised $5.8 million, said Marsha Riordan of William Penn Univesity.

This year, work crews finished work on the visitor-side bleachers and completed work on team locker rooms. The next items on the construction agenda at the stadium are completion of the press box and the stadium score board, Hafner said.

The Lacey Complex Stadium is home to many Oskaloosa High School and William Penn University teams. Sports played at the complex include football, soccer and track. Also, the William Penn University Marching Band uses the stadium, Hafner said.
