OSKALOOSA — At Monday’s regular meeting of the Oskaloosa City Council, Miranda Cummings of Kelli Steil - State Farm Insurance provided insight into the Celebrate My Drive Campaign.

According to the agenda item packet for Monday’s meeting, National Teen Driver Safety Week is Oct. 18 through 26.

Cummings said she’s met with student councils in Oskaloosa and New Sharon, as well as other individuals to try and get more of the community involved.

The school has an opportunity to win a $25,000 or $100,000 grant, noted Cummings.

Teen driving is an important issue to recognize, said Cummings.

“Car crashes are the number one killer of teenagers and it’s something that we really need to take time to pay attention to,” said Cummings.

Numerous ideas associated with Celebrate My Drive Campaign are in the works, noted Cummings. She said she will provide an update at the next regular Oskaloosa City Council meeting.
