Want a good book? Check out the AAUW book sale

The Oskaloosa Herald

Want a good book to read? The American Association of University Women has 14 pallets of books for sale at Penn Central Mall this weekend.

“This is our 48th year,” AAUW member Dianne Van Gorp said at the book sale Thursday afternoon.

Just how many books are for sale?

“It's thousands,” Van Gorp said. “Tons of books.”

The books range from fiction to non-fiction. There also are magazines, movies and puzzles for sale.

The AAUW uses the book sale as a fund-raiser for the organization.

“We give it for scholarships for women,” Van Gorp said. Locally, the scholarships help women attend William Penn University, or colleges and universities around the country, she added.

“It's the oldest scholarship program for women,” Van Gorp said.

The book sale hours are Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The books will be free from 3 p.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday.
