The Oskaloosa School Board approved the fiscal year 2013-2014 certified budget at its meeting Tuesday night.
The budget will have a tax levy of $15.53 per $1,000 assessed valuation.
The budget was unanimously approved and will be sent to state education officials.
In other action, the School Board set a minimum bid of $170,000 for the Construction Trades home students built this school year.
School Board Secretary Chad Vink said that the school district attorney Greg Life will take care of public notices and Wednesday, May 1, is the deadline for people to submit bids.
The School Board also approved the specifications for a new 77-passenger school bus and authorized the solicitation of bids. School officials also will seek a couple of used buses too to improve the district’s fleet.
The School Board also scheduled a public hearing for a budget amendment to the current budget for May 14 at 7 p.m. at the board meeting room at George Daily Auditorium.
Vink said the amendment deals with increased food prices and it will be dealt with either by additional revenue or a fund balance. There will be no additional taxes or fees implemented to cover it, he said.
