Justin Clarahan selected for national conference

The Oskaloosa Herald

---- — OSKALOOSA — Doctors, nurses and therapists are all very important healthcare providers particularly for the aging population. However, these professionals spend a limited amount of time with a patient — maybe 15 minutes to assess medication during a standard doctor visit, or half-an-hour for physical therapy once a week. In most skilled nursing care facilities, the certified nurses’ assistants are the primary care provider and, their role is becoming more important.

In that vein, the National Association of Health Care Assistants has developed a two-day conference taking place June 18-20 in Oklahoma City. CNA Justin Clarahan has been selected by the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab Center to attend the “CNAs Shine like Diamonds” conference. He will be joined by thousands of other CNAs from around the country to participate in educational and motivational sessions designed to maximize the personal and professional potential of nursing assistants.

Begun in 1995, NAHCA is the only association of its kind supporting professional caregivers who are considered the “backbone of health care, (and) its heart and soul”. With more than 25,000 members nationwide, NAHCA Director of Professional Development Jeff Wellman says, “Our members have told us that attending annual conference reinvigorates them, renews their passion for their profession and equips them with ideas that they can bring back to their centers.”
