EDDYVILLE — This chiropractor with local roots is open for business in Eddyville.

After opening Veldhuizen Chiropractic & Wellness Jan. 3, a ribbon cutting ceremony for the office was held Tuesday with those from the Oskaloosa Chamber Diplomats.

Dr. Dustin Veldhuizen of Veldhuizen Chiropractic & Wellness is a 2005 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. He would go on attend Central College where he graduated with a major in exercise science in 2008. From there, Veldhuizen attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he graduated in June 2012.

Before deciding to venture into the field himself, Veldhuizen experienced the benefits of visiting a chiropractor first hand.

“Growing up, I had been to a chiropractor for aches and pains before,” explained Veldhuizen, adding that he went to chiropractors for injuries when he played football at Central College.

Opening Veldhuizen Chiropractic & Wellness in Eddyville made sense for Dustin, who has a lot of family that live in the area. He noted that he has always wanted to help his father on the farm on the weekends.

When it comes to his anticipated patient base, Veldhuizen said it won’t be limited to just athletes.

“I really just want to have more like a family practice just to try to get as many people of all ages as I can,” said Veldhuizen.

Veldhuizen Chiropractic & Wellness is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. His office is also open Tuesdays and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.

Those interested in booking appointments with Veldhuizen can call (641) 225-8065.
