Oskaloosa Junior Chamber Orchestra Festival set for Feb. 25

OASKALOOSA — On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Oskaloosa Junior Chamber Orchestra Festival will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa.

Rehearsals will be followed by a 7 p.m. performance of the festival orchestra and the High School Chamber Orchestra. Guest clinician, Dr. Jonathan Chenoweth, professor of cello and chamber music at the University of Northern Iowa, will lead the festival orchestra. Thirty-one seventh- through ninth-grade students from Pella, Ottumwa and Oskaloosa have been selected to participate in a chamber orchestra.

Students from Oskaloosa selected for the event include: Colton Berg, John Hammes, Andy Sterner, Spencer Nelson, Madison Braden, Ellie Snyder, Lizzie DeJong, Jack Miller and Alex Nagorney violins; Carter Huyser and Joanna Thury violas; Blake Allsup, Sydney Robbins and Kinsey Cook cellos; Chase Anderson and Lexi Randau string bass.

The High School Chamber Orchestra is made up of: Jennifer Watters, Caleb Fisher, Emily Allee, Kamron VanHulzen, Logan Gross, Sereena Cheney, Nadia Gaitan, Ally Lowe, Makennah Little and Tori Palmer, violins; Naomi Cochran and Lauren Gorski, violas; Jacob Cummings, Sandra Blom and Blake Allsup, cellos; Alisha Horn, string bass; Taryn Shaw, piano.
