BUSSEY — Union Liberty Church, located at 1143 325th St., near Bussey, will be hosting a Praise Service featuring Nashville pianist and comedian Brian Hanson, a native of Oskaloosa, on Sunday evening Feb. 23.
The service will begin at 6 p.m. and be followed with a time of fellowship. A free-will offering will be received to support Hanson’s work. Hanson’s piano concerts are a unique blend of hand picked traditional favorites from old time hymns and gospel songs, the best of contemporary praise and worship music and his own original compositions.
Through the vehicles of beautiful piano music, audience participation and a great sense of humor, he does his best to create an atmosphere where God is exalted and glorified. He is a man of purpose; his purpose being to communicate the love of Christ through his music and to have a really good time doing it.
In addition to being born and raised in Oskaloosa, a few of Brian’s accomplishments include: being a devoted family man — Brian’s greatest happiness come from Cheryl, his wife of 32 years, and his 3 children; a music score composer for film and video, composing and arranging original music for the soundtrack of the Watch Word Bible (a winner of two awards at The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival); and he composed music for the award winning film “Prison to Praise.”
