Due to a downturn in recent business, Oskaloosa Discount is going to close its doors by the end of July.
The liquidation store located on A Avenue West deals with overstocks and discontinued items. The store carries items from new and used furniture, appliances, tools, electronics to health and beauty items.
Manager Kyle Parker, who works with the owner to run the store, said the delivery truck will also be sold as part of the closing sale.
For at least the next week, prices will be cut by 30 percent, Parker said. Eventually the prices could be cut more. Parker said the store already offers prices that are 50 percent or more less than retail.
“There’s been a decline in sales,” Parker said. “People can’t afford to shop.”
He blames the downturn on rising gas prices. He said sales started dropping around mid-April. The decision to close the store, which has been open for three years, was made last week.
Parker said the store will be open until everything is sold or the end of July.
“We’re going to run her until it’s done,” Parker said.
