Question of the Week: Will the Hawkeyes and Cyclone have good football seasons this year?

OSKALOOSA — There was a sparse turnout for this past week’s Question of the Week: Are you ready for school to start?

Twelve — 41 percent — said YES while nine — 31 percent — answered NO and eight — 28 percent — replied I DON’T CARE.

The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.

This week’s Question of the Week deals with college football.

Are you ready for some football? I am.

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones begin the 2011 football season Saturday.

The Hawkeyes host Tennessee Tech at Kinnick Stadium. The Cyclones host the University of Northern Iowa at Jack Trice Stadium that night.

The Hawkeyes are coming off an 8-5 season and the Cyclones just missed being bowl eligible. So, expectations for both teams this year are not high.

Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz likes to fly under the radar and the Cyclones like to sneak up and catch people by surprise — ask Nebraska coach Bo Pelini about the Iowa State game two seasons ago.

Will the Hawkeyes and Cyclones be successful this year?

What do you think?
