What it takes to be a Duck Plucker

OSKALOOSA — Hot and dry conditions are remaining here, and they are here to stay. Temperatures have remained in the 90s (and 100s some days) for several weeks now. Mahaska County remains under a burn ban until further notice. A little bit of relief (unfortunately not enough relief) is in the forecast with some slim chances of showers and thunderstorms through Friday. This week as I work on a couple of questions relating to streets and alleys, I would like to run some information regarding the upcoming Duck Plucker’s Ball.

Duck Plucker’s Ball

Saturday, July 28

What exactly is a Duck Plucker? You’ve probably seen the signs around town and may be asking yourself that question. Well, in this instance a Duck Plucker is anyone who would like to participate in a fun-filled event hosted by the WPU Booster Club to raise funds for new track & field equipment for the Stadium at Lacey Recreation Complex. The equipment will be used by athletes from WPU, Oskaloosa  Community Schools and MCRF so this is an opportunity to come together as a community and do something good for all our athletes. The day will start with field games at the Izaak Walton League, then out to the National Guard Armory for auctions, raffles, dinner and dancing. Go to www.wmpenn.edu/duckpluckersfor more information and join us for a fun time, outdoorsmen-style.

If you have a question about anything that is occurring in the community, or about an upcoming event, please feel free to send them to me. I will do my best to find an answer for you. Please e-mail them to me at oskyquestions@gmail.com.
