Where to vote in Mahaska County

OSKALOOSA — I can’t believe that I am saying this now — next week is Election Day. The election will end a year-and-a-half process that some of us may be happy to see end. It will be really weird after next week to not see any campaign ads at all! Weather this week looks to remain about the same with high temperatures ranging from the high 40s to the high 50s. The Election Day forecast looks to be a great day to do your civic duty! It looks to be mostly sunny with a high near 59 degrees on Election Day. I have two questions about election day to answer for you today.

Question: Where are the voting locations in the county?

This question seems to come up every year, regardless of whether we are voting for president or governor. Oskaloosa has 11 polling stations this year. All of the county polling stations include at least two townships. The city polling locations are the same as they have been; however, the Ward 3 and Ward 4 polling locations now include some non-Oskaloosa residents. Here are your polling locations: Adams, Monroe, Union, and Pleasant Grove townships — Union Mills Christian Church; Black Oak and Scott Townships — Leighton Christian Reformed Church; Cedar, White Oak and Harrison Townships — Fremont Community Building; East and West Des Moines and Jefferson Townships — County Maintenance Shop Building in Truax; Garfield, Lincoln, and Madison Townships — County Shop Building; Oskaloosa Ward 1 — AEA/ISU Extension Building; Oskaloosa Ward 2 — Fellowship Bible Church Activity Building; Oskaloosa Ward 3 and University Park — Old Webster School; Oskaloosa Ward 4 and portions of Lincoln Township — Old Grant School; Prairie and Richland Townships — New Sharon City Park Building; Spring Creek Township excluding University Park — Keomah Village Community Building.

Question: How late are the polls open in the election?

The polls in next week’s election will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
