Albia derailment details released

ALBIA — Seven cars came off the tracks in a derailment at Albia on Sunday, but no one was injured in the incident.

A spokeswoman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad said the derailment took place at 11 p.m. Sunday. The derailed cars were carrying rock salt. The train was carrying a mixed cargo.

Work on getting the cars back on the track continued overnight and into Monday, with tracks reopening around 2 p.m.
