Knoxville — The Knoxville School Board will meet in special session Thursday, April 3, at 5:30 p.m., to approve a contract with Tracy Wilkins as the new Knoxville High School Principal.
Wilkins is currently the Assistant High School Principal and Athletic Director for Maquoketa Schools. He was interviewed with groups of staff, students, administrators, teachers and parents on Monday. Each of these groups, according to their scores, selected him among the interviewees.
Wilkins was offered the job and he accepted.
"We're very excited," Cassandra Murra, Knoxville Schools' next superintendent, said. She added that she is glad to have Wilkins coming aboard. He will assist her in the search for a new activities director and a new KHS Dean.
Knoxville Schools Superintendent Randy Flack, KHS Principal Kevin Crawford, West Elementary Principal Mike Montgomery and Activities Director Randy Wilson have each accepted early retirement packages and will be finished in these positions at the end of the school year. Montgomery's successor will be Linda Abbott, currently the Knoxville Middle School Assistant Principal. Abbott's successor in that position will be current KHS Dean Ryan Klein.
Murra said that her transition into Knoxville, from her current district of Grundy Center, is going well. She said she has been working well with Flack in making the change easy for the school district. Murra is eager to move to Knoxville.
