Centerville welcomes new teachers and administrators

She will be joined in Centerville by her husband, Dustin, and her two children. Her son Jayce is 11 and her daughter Baylor is six.

Kirkland said her favorite thing about teaching is seeing students grow and develop skills to be successful.

Greg Fisher

Greg Fisher will be serving as the Centerville High School assistant principal as well as the new Activities Director. He grew up in Eldora where he participated in football, baseball, basketball track and vocal music. He received his under graduate degree from the University of Iowa and his master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

His wife, Phyllis, is the Director of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory at Iowa State University. They have two children. Their son, Rich, is a special education teacher, head baseball coach and assistant football coach in Tipton. Their daughter, Jamie, is an assistant marketing director with First Security Bank in Charles City.

In the past, Fisher has worked as a coach for football, basketball, track and baseball, although he won’t be coaching anything this year in Centerville.

He said the thing he likes most about teaching is helping students obtain a level of understanding that they didn’t think was possible to reach.
