Temperatures set to plunge

DES MOINES — It’s going to get cold again. Very cold.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines is warning that a new system entering the state Sunday could cause blizzard conditions across much of the state. Temperatures will plunge afterwards.

A blizzard watch is scheduled to go into effect at noon Sunday and last until midnight. Accumulations could be a couple of inches in the area.

But the cold is expected to be the real threat. Monday’s forecast high in Ottumwa is -1. Pella and Oskaloosa might only get up to -3.
