Pella Chamber announces Hall of Fame Award recipients

Pella — The Pella Chamber of Commerce will honor five Hall of Fame Excellence Award recipients at their Annual Membership Meeting on Friday, February 28, 2014.  Recipients were selected for the impact each has on the community, quality of life, and economy of Pella.  This year’s recipients are: Larry De Vries, Roger Duven, Barb Kniff McCulla, Nola Vander Streek, and Pete Verhey.  Each will be presented with an award as a part of the Chamber’s Annual Membership Meeting on February 28, 2014.

The Pella Chamber Annual Membership Meeting will be held on February 28, 2014 from 7-8:30 am at Graham Conference Center.  In addition to honoring the award recipients, the morning breakfast meeting will also include a look ahead to this year’s events and activities from the Chamber, CVB, Positively Pella and PADCO.  Seats can be reserved by calling the Chamber office at 628-2626; cost is $15/members and $20/non-members.

This is the 41st year for the Hall of Fame Awards.  Each year the Chamber receives nominations from its members and the general public for businesses and individuals who have made a positive impact on the community.  A selection committee made up of current and former Chamber board members reviews the nominations and selects the recipients.

  • Sunburn isn't the only sign of summer that can leave you itchy and blistered

You've got a rash. You quickly rule out the usual suspects: You haven't been gardening or hiking or even picnicking, so it's probably not a plant irritant such as poison ivy or wild parsnip; likewise, it's probably not chiggers or ticks carrying Lyme disease; and you haven't been swimming in a pond, which can harbor the parasite that causes swimmer's itch.
