School security comments lead to threat of terrorism charge

CENTERVILLE — Centerville Police say Brian Joseph Davis, 51, of Centerville has been charged with threat of terrorism, a class D felony, following threats he allegedely made about being able to shoot kids in the Centerville School District, due to his claims of lax security at the schools.

According to a press release issued by the Centerville Police Department Wednesday morning, Davis made multiple threats regarding lack of school security at Centerville Schools. The press release alledges Davis commented he could walk into any school in town and start shooting kids. Davis also reportedly stated that his threats may cause the school district's security to change.

Davis was arrested in the 600 block of West Van Buren Street in Centerville on Tuesday. He is being held in the Appanoose County Jail with a $50,000 cash bond.

The press release from the Centerville Police Department says the school administration has been contacted and made aware of the comments.
