Published September 17, 2008 08:56 am - Adams Champs August meeting minutes By CLAYTON HESTER, Adams Champs Reporter The Oskaloosa Herald NEW SHARON — The August meeting of the Adams Champs 4-H Club met Aug. 27, at the McVay Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by Dawson Ferguson, vice-president. Roll call was answered by 35 members on the topic of “Your favorite thing to do in the summer.” Leaders present were Renee and Jayne Ferguson, Phyllis Ver Steegh, Gail Morris, Jenny Edmundson, Deana DeJong, Dorothy Hester and Lisa Walston. Two guests were present — Manesa Sharp and Alicia Crosby. Treasurer’s report read by Trent Morris was approved by Trent Wanders and Cody Foster. The Community Service Project was sewing surgery caps for children going into surgery. They are made of fun, brightly colored fabrics and each child going into surgery picks out the one they want to wear into surgery and they get to keep it. Shannon Breon had a nice presentation and led the discussion on sewing the caps. They are to restock the supply as the hospital was running short on caps. Old Business — Congratulations to all the Adams Champs 4-H members that participated at the Southern Iowa Fair. The following Herdsmanship awards for Adams Champs were — Horse Individual Tanner Wanders; Poultry Individual - Tyler Foster; Beef Club Award -Adams Champs 4-H Club. Adams Champs members projects picked to go to the 2008 Iowa State Fair — Maggie Ferguson-Sewn Bag; Lyndsay Morris - refinished dresser with mirror; Austin Witt-Target Bracket Stand; photography-Cody Foster and Brittany Brown; Visual Arts-Tye Burch with his cowboy birdhouse. Several members showed livestock at the Iowa State Fair. New Business — New officers were elected for 2008-2009: President - Lyndsay Morris Vice-president - Dawson Ferguson Secretary - Tyler Foster Treasurer - Trent Morris Reporter - Clayton Hester Photographer - Brittany Brown
